- The four prohibitions to follow when using the sulfur gun
The sulfide gun is the core equipment in the sulfur acid production plant, its function is to atomize the liquid sulfur and spray it into the incineration furnace for combustion. During operation, phenomena such as expansion joint rupture, excessive bending of the gun body, and cracking and leakage of the outer jacket will occur, which are closely related to the operation prohibitions of the sulfide gun. Currently, there are two different types of incineration furnaces with different structures in the sulfur acid production plant, one is the single-hole forced swirling air intake type structure, and the other is the multi-hole compression air intake type structure. The operation of the sulfide gun varies for different incineration furnaces.
1. It is prohibited to simultaneously and for a long time close the steam inlet and outlet valves of the sulfide gun insulation.
For the incineration furnace with a single-hole forced swirling air intake type structure, the outlet has a gradually expanding section, and the first wall is far from the sulfide gun. When this type of incineration furnace is running, under the action of high-speed rotation and forward air flow, the atomized liquid sulfur sprayed by the sulfide gun will drift forward for a certain distance before burning, and the burning flame rarely rebounds to the vicinity of the sulfide gun. Thus, the temperature of the outer jacket of the sulfide gun is relatively low. Based on this working condition, during normal operation of the device, there is no need to use steam to cool or heat the sulfide gun, and the sulfide gun can operate normally. However, during operation, it is particularly important to emphasize that it is prohibited to simultaneously close the steam inlet and outlet valves of the sulfide gun insulation. If the outlet valve is closed tightly while the inlet valve is not tightly closed and there is a slight leakage, a large amount of condensate water will accumulate in the outer jacket of the sulfide gun. If the device is shut down and the inlet and outlet valves are not opened in time, the radiant heat of the incineration furnace will quickly heat the outer jacket of the sulfide gun, and the condensate water will rapidly vaporize. If there is no pressure relief outlet or the pressure relief speed is much lower than the pressure rise speed, the pressure will rapidly increase, and when it exceeds the pressure resistance limit of the expansion joint, a rupture will occur, causing equipment accidents.
2. It is prohibited to install a steam trap on the main pipeline of the sulfide gun insulation steam outlet.
For the incineration furnace with a multi-hole compression air intake type structure, the entire furnace chamber is of the same diameter, and the airflow slows down significantly after entering. The first wall is very close to the sulfide gun. During sulfur combustion in this type of incineration furnace, the flame will extensively rebound to the sulfide gun area, and the temperature is close to the furnace temperature. Under this working condition, the sulfide gun insulation steam should be turned on at any time to remove the heat from the outer jacket and reduce the temperature to protect the sulfide gun from being damaged by high temperature. Some devices, in order to save steam, install a steam trap on the main pipeline of the sulfide gun insulation steam outlet. This is a wrong setting. The normal working state of the steam trap is to automatically drain water and block steam. The sulfide gun is in a high-temperature environment and it is difficult to generate condensate water, resulting in the steam trap remaining in an automatic closed state for a long time. Steam cannot flow and cannot carry away the heat, leaving the sulfide gun in a dry-burning state. Once the temperature exceeds the strength limit of the metal, even if there is a small stress, it will cause cracking and leakage.
3. It is prohibited to operate the sulfide gun insulation steam at a small flow rate.
For the incineration furnace with a single-hole forced swirling air intake type structure in the shutdown state and the incineration furnace with a multi-hole compression air intake type structure in the start-up and shutdown states, it is prohibited to operate the sulfide gun insulation steam at a small flow rate. The sulfide gun is installed horizontally, and the flow area of the outer jacket of the sulfide gun is much larger than that of the inner jacket. When the steam flow rate is too small, it cannot fill the entire outer jacket of the sulfide gun. Under high-temperature conditions, the steam flowing upward through the upper part will be more and carry more heat. As a result, due to the temperature difference, the gun body will bend upward, and over time, the bending angle will become larger and deviate from the normal working position, posing a hazard to the safe operation of the incineration furnace. Once it exceeds the limit, the gun body will also crack and leak.
4. It is prohibited to close the sulfide gun insulation steam.
For the incineration furnace with a single-hole forced swirling air intake type structure in the shutdown state and the incineration furnace with a multi-hole compression air intake type structure in the start-up and shutdown states, it is prohibited to close the sulfide gun insulation steam. During these states, the working conditions temperature is close to or higher than the limit temperature of the sulfide gun, and it is very likely to damage it. At present, the most suitable material for manufacturing sulfide guns is 310S. However, once the temperature exceeds 800 degrees, the strength begins to decline. Under such a working condition of over 1000 degrees, a large amount of steam must be used continuously to remove the heat from the sulfide gun, ensuring that it remains within a safe temperature range and avoiding damage from dry burning.
